Updates to our DMD Portfolio
Updated versions of our MLPA assays for DMD copy number analysis are now available, covering both Duchenne (DMD) and Becker (BMD) muscular dystrophies. The new versions provide improved assay performance and additional quality control features.
In the coming year, our product range will be further expanded with a digitalMLPA panel dedicated to comprehensive analysis of the DMD gene, providing an even extended coverage in a single test.
Improved MLPA Probemixes P034 DMD-1 & P035 DMD-2
New versions of the widely used MLPA P034 DMD-1 and P035 DMD-2 assays are now available (P034-C1 and P035-C1). These updates assays are certified under the In Vitro Diagnostic Regulation (IVDR), the EU framework for IVD devices, ensuring high-quality standards.
Updates include:
- an additional probe targeting DMD exon 1
- redesigned target probes to reduce interference from single nucleotide variants (SNVs)
- improved robustness under various experimental conditions
Previous versions (P034-B2 and P035-B1) will remain available until the end of 2026. When placing your order, please indicate if you wish to receive P034-B2 and/or P035-B1; the C1 versions will otherwise be shipped by default.
digitalMLPA Panels for DMD Copy Number Analysis
digitalMLPA panels allow analysis of hundreds of targets simultaneously, enabling the entire DMD gene to be assessed in a single reaction.
Current and upcoming digitalMLPA assays for DMD include:
- NXtec D028 Carrier Panel 1 (recently launched):
Carrier status analysis across nine complex genomic regions, including SMN1, DMD and HBA/HBB. Covers the entire DMD gene with one probe per exon in a single reaction. - NXtec D008 DMD (expected mid-2026):
Comprehensive DMD copy number analysis with two probes per exon.
