ME034 Multi-locus Imprinting for teratoma profiling of FFPE material

A recent publication has highlighted the use of the MS-MLPA probemix ME034 Multi-locus Imprinting. ME034 was used by Kato and co-workers to compare and distinguish the methylation profiles of mature ovarian teratomas, struma ovarii, complete hydatidiform moles (CHMs), and extragonadal mature teratomas. The DNA source used for their experiments was FFPE tissue, derived from these lesions.

As expected, the maternally imprinted regions in the probemix showed hypermethylation in all mature ovarian teratomas & stuma ovarii, and hypomethylation of the paternally imprinted regions. In contrast, the CHM samples showed hypermethylation of the paternally imprinted regions and hypomethylation of the maternally imprinted regions covered in the ME034 probemix. Extragonadal mature teratomas showed a more somatic methylation pattern compared to the other lesions.
